CERID-LAUTECH Conduct Workshop on Oxford Nanopore Sequencing Technology and other molecular Diagnostic Techniques
CERID-LAUTECH organized a one-week workshop on Basic Molecular Diagnostic Techniques from 25th – 29th of July, 2022. Facilitators from CERID-LAUTECH, the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Tuebingen, Germany, the Institute of Endemic Diseases University of Khartoum, Babcock University, and BioGen Nigeria were on hand to impact knowledge.
The hands-on workshop had 25 participants comprising postgraduate students and established researchers from different parts of the country. The workshop covers the theoretical and practical introduction to principles and types of PCR, Real-Time PCR, Nanopore sequencing and its application to COVID-19 and other pathogens, Next Generation Sequencing and Bioinformatics. Multiple opportunities for collaboration between participants were identified for the advancement of scientific research.
Our mandate is to train personnel on current genomic technologies to detect and characterize emerging pathogens in Africa and beyond
